Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Staff - End Exploitative "Second Job" Contracts and Pay Fair Overtime

UNISON wants to end the unfair and exploitative practice of asking permanent NHS staff to sign up to a zero hours contract (Kernowflex) for what are effectively overtime hours within their existing roles in a bid to underpay staff.

It is unacceptable to be asking hard working NHS staff to do overtime without proper pay or recognition! This predominantly affects the lowest paid staff who rely on overtime to pay their bills.

We, the undersigned are deeply concerned that Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust are encouraging a system that undermines the rights of their dedicated hardworking NHS employees.

The hospital are giving staff the option to sign up to a zero hours contract where they will be paid at a flat rate, rather than overtime pay which is time and a half.

We call on Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust to reconsider these ill thought out plans and stop trying to get work done on the cheap.

Why is this important?

By joining this campaign, people can add their voices to the growing call for Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust to reconsider these ill thought out plans and ensure their hardworking staff are treated fairly and with the respect they deserve. It's about standing in solidarity with those who care for us and our families, and ensuring they are paid fairly for the work they do.
